Remote Digitized Inspections
Innovation for Safer Structures

What are Remote Inspections?

Technological advances have created enormous possibilities in all aspects of life, including the building construction and safety industry. Digital and online tools for building design, construction and administrative functions, such as permit applications, payment of permit fees, submission of plans and digital plan review improve accuracy toward achieving safe and resilient communities. Some jurisdictions have taken advantage of advancing technologies and have incorporated various levels of digitization into their processes in order to save time and reduce costs.

A Remote Digitized Inspection (RDI) is a method of inspection NOAH Certified has pioneered that allows the needed inspections to proceed in a timely manner by the owner or contractor located on the jobsite and the inspector or inspection teams performing the inspection remotely. A whitepaper from ICC states “While this practice gained good acceptance and implementation during the weeks and months of COVID-19 social distancing, its advantages are so great that it will likely become a popular and routine tool for the foreseeable future.”

      Building Department
      in a box

A Building Department in a box means, NOAH RDI performs all functions from Permit application to Certificate of Occupancy. Functions may include but not limited to Inspection of Rental Units.

Our Remote Digitized Inspections can be archived, are reliable, and on time, where the contractor schedules the inspection online at his/her convenience. There is no face to face contact required with the inspectors. The records are sharable with the homeowner, contractor and jurisdiction. These inspections are value priced and should cost no more than an onsite inspection including automatic archiving and cloud storage, which is not provided with face to face inspections.

      Augmenting Building Departments

Is your building department ever short staffed? Inspectors have vacations and sometimes are out due to illness. Delayed production costs time and money. If a job is stopped then there are additional startup costs. Imagine a system where there is no delay due to inspections or plan review.

Note to Third Party Inspectors: licensed inspectors and plan review specialists are available when you need them most. NOAH RDI is prepared to handle overloads due to shortage of inspectors, increase in permits, or specialty builds.

      Why is this important?...

      For Jurisdictions

Share the workload… Jurisdictions have access to the permit/inspection files,  with the majority of the functions of a building department being performed by NOAH RDI. Proof of inspections.

      For Contractors

Contractors have to deal with weather, labor shortages and other issues, in addition to inspection delays. Having your inspections performed in a timely manner saves time and money in delayed project costs. Some projects may have a daily penalty for not meeting completion requirements.  ( see Contactless Contractor Program below)

      For Homeowners

The entire build is documented. The homeowner can refer to the archived records including, photos and inspection videos when planning alterations or performing repairs. This may create a higher resale potential, and limit exploratory costs for renovations.

With contactless inspections there 0 chance of germs or dirt being introduced into the home environment providing added protection and peace of mind.

      Contactless
      Contractor Program

This program is where contractors partner with NOAH RDI to use best safety practices during inspections. It is required that contractors utilize masks, social distancing and contactless inspections. With training and implementing best practices and utilizing Noah RDIs remote inspections the contractor receives the digital CCP Seal that demonstrates the contractor cares about the health and safety of others.
